mundane no longer has a place

More Than Just Politics

Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Isaiah 5:20

Politics—just the word made me retreat more than a little; I didn’t think it was a place where I belonged. I didn’t see the need; I lived in an amazing country where knowledgeable people knew what they needed to do to keep the country moving forward in the right direction, and I trusted the system. That’s not the world I live in anymore. The closer I follow Jesus, the more I realize He has called us to speak His truth into our culture. As Bible-believing Christians, we can’t just sit on the sidelines and think it’s all going to work out for the best. We are called to be light in the darkness, a voice of truth amid so much confusion (2 Corinthians 4:1-6, Ephesians 5:1-13). If we don’t stand up, there will be no opposition to the eradication of Biblical values.

At the polls tomorrow, Biblical issues are at stake. It’s not just politics anymore. The Bible was the first to declare the sanctity of life from the womb (Psalm 139:13-16, Jeremiah 1:5, Job 33:4, Psalm 127:3, Galatians 1:15, Isaiah 44:24). The Bible gives us the truth: God created us male and female (Gen 1:27, Gen 5:2). The Bible tells us God was the first to ordain marriage between a man and a woman (Gen 2:24, Matthew 19:5, Ephesians 5:31). The Bible tells us the nation whose God is the Lord is blessed (Psalm 33:12). These aren’t political issues, they were first, Biblical.

Our nation was built on Biblical principles. If we turn our backs on our history and embrace ungodly principles, we ask God to withdraw His blessing from our nation (Psalm 1:1, Ecclesiastes 8:12,13) and from us. While no candidate or political party is perfect, we must acknowledge that if we walk into a future where Biblical values are not welcome, we will enter into a future that celebrates ungodliness, and we will lose our freedoms. We can’t sit on the sidelines anymore; there is no neutral stance. This is our time to stand for God’s truth.

I consider everything I do in my life an opportunity for worship. Upholding and speaking Biblical truth into our culture, I now see this as an act of worship. For Christians, using our voices to proclaim a Biblical worldview means speaking up on topics some claim are purely political. I’d like you to consider that, before they were political, the issues were Biblical.

It is a blessing to live in a country where we have a voice, and I encourage you to see this not as a duty but as a privilege! I know you have 1 million other things you could do with your time tomorrow, but I urge you to please prioritize making time to vote!

Let’s take a stand, cast our ballots, and ask God to continue to bless our nation!
